You go Long Islander! It's actually the best place ever to learn to drive, and I tried in like ... 5 towns to learn to drive. Answer? Hauppauge. Lots of road variety and they have a really good DMV; I wish I'd tested there.
You'll be fine! Just get in some extra practice before then and muck around with maneuvers. :D Um. Also make sure you know where all the stuff is on the car you're using. Lights, windshield wipers, thing that pops the hood, etc. Also know your hand signals, although tbh there are only about three so it is not that hard.
Remember, once you actually have your license, nobody really cares if that three-point turn is a five-point turn. \o/
Ok, just to clarify because I've been driving for a while -- in Texas, at least when I got my license, you weren't required to take the test IF you took driver's ed from an accredited driving school and had paperwork from them saying you passed the program. I just sidestepped it! (I may have to take one if/when I move out of state, though, so there's that to look forward to.) I'm sure you will do great, though. :DDDDD
Much like the commenter above me, I didn't have to take a driving test at the DMV when I got my license. Back when I got my license here in Kansas over ten years ago, you could take Driver's Ed in high school and if you passed the class you just took the slip to the DMV and you got your license.
Brady told me that and I thought it was WHACK. I still think it is just as whack. As much as I hated having to take three road tests, having to take my 5-hour course twice and having a hellacious time all around I think road tests are kind of ... a good idea in addition to driver's ed. (Not that I took driver's ed, I was 20 when I started driving.)
But hey, it saved you guys a hassle.
Even if Brady still can't parallel park. *ducks and runs HANS PROTECT ME*
There is no radio button for 'My situation was too complicated for the DMV to understand so I got my license without taking the test in a weird fluke and it's a good thing I could actually, you know, drive.'
