tiltingheartand: (if you could put dumb in a shotglass)
Yesterday I went to the dentist and got drilled and I didn't even need a shot. This is, okay, this is revolutionary and amazing. I had full function of my mouth back -- like, my tooth had stopped feeling sort of awkward -- like half an hour after we left.

(For clarification: I had a root canal done last Monday, so yesterday they took out the temporary filling and put the post and permanent filling in. So really it's not like there were any nerves or anything in there? I thought I was going to get a shot, but the hygienist suggested that I start off without one, because if I was uncomfortable the dentist could always stop and numb me up. But oh man, no needle. Score.)

I may have very exciting news to post later today or tomorrow; hopefully either frantic texting or Facebook messaging will occur between now and then. Fingers crossed.

Also! I am dyeing my hair, uh, either tomorrow night or Thursday. I am terribly excited.

My computer has really been acting up today. It's making me terribly sad, especially since it's been so kind to me lately. :(

Otherwise, though, today was awesome. I got a bunch of stuff I needed, came back home, made cookies, and flailed a little. (Flailing is kind of an everyday occurrence for me, though, so.)

But hey, look! I got two peppermints! :D

Yeah, so the dynamics test today pretty much sucked. I managed to at least put something down for all six problems, and I think I may have gotten one completely right, but ugh. I am so glad homework is worth so much, because it's probably going to be the only reason I pass. :|

Tomorrow is our service project at, uh, Arunah Hill? It's supposed to rain on and off all day so I am Conflicted -- it's also supposed to get up to 58. Theoretically. I dunno if that's going to happen, though. And we're actually probably going to be moving around most of the day, so hm. Maybe I'll just put on like three layers of shirt and then the top layer of my winter coat (it's one of those awesome ones that zips apart, so the top one works as a raincoat and has a hood and everything) and knee socks.

And then IQP meeting at six, for which I have totally not prepared at all. Ugh. I can't believe the third week's over already and we have nothing written.

I find the fact that Steve Barton is blond to be incredibly disturbing.

:| :| :|

Also, what the hell, kisses are supposed to involve two sets of lips, not one and a half and maybe the bottom of somebody's nose.

I got an 18 on last week's orgo quiz, partly because I didn't know a few answers and partly because, uh, I'm a dumbass. (Two legit mistakes. One instance where I only gave carbon three bonds, although reassuringly two other people in my class forgot the exact same hydrogen. One instance where instead of adding water across a double bond (as an alcohol and a hydrogen) I, uh. Added two alcohols.)

And then we learned that there are people doing things to carbon that make it planar even when it's tetracoordinated, which, ahahahaha that's actually kind of ridiculous and amazing, not gonna lie.

Unfortunate discovery of the day: our pledge meetings are 9:30 to 10:30, Tuesday nights (at least they are this term). Normally that would be fine, but my biochem group is meeting tomorrow night to see if we can't get part two of the project finished. Theoretically we should be able to do it before I have to leave -- we have a little more than half of it done already, we just haven't printed anything off yet or anything. Just. :|

I only managed to fall asleep at like 3:30 this morning, but I was in a perfectly good mood until like 5:30, at which point I suppose I crashed, ugh. I was planning on writing some more of this week's IQP stuff today, too, cos that way I'll have Wednesday and Thursday to study for the orgo test on Friday. Maybe I'll do it after I get back from volleyball tomorrow, and then dinner, biochem, pledge meeting. I miss having time off on Wednesdays.

I got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] x_gh0st_x, so:

1. Take a picture of your bag.
2. Now dump everything out, neatly adjust it, and take a picture.
3. Talk about the items.
4. Tag 6 people. (Don't tag the person who was already tagged.)

pictures! )

And I tag: [livejournal.com profile] metaphor, [livejournal.com profile] bansidhe, [livejournal.com profile] likeweaklings, [livejournal.com profile] tears_of_nienna, [livejournal.com profile] of_evangeline, [livejournal.com profile] genarti.

ALSO. Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] x_gh0st_x, I had a Zack today for like half an hour! Clearly this makes me superior to everyone else who didn't have a Zack for like half an hour today, so ha. *wins*

I have off tomorrow, but I also have a dentist appointment at 1:30. I really and truly can't decide which I'd rather have. :| :| :| Three and a half years with no cavities and now I have two, and a broken tooth. I really hate my teeth sometimes.

[livejournal.com profile] parcae: An explorer in the dense jungles of equatorial Africa leaves his hut. He takes 43 steps at an angle 45° north of east, then 79 steps at an angle 60° north of west, then 50 steps due south. Assume his steps all have equal length. Save him from becoming hopelessly lost in the jungle by giving him the displacement, calculated using the method of components, that will return him to his hut.

[livejournal.com profile] parcae: WHERE DO THEY COME UP WITH THIS SHIT
[livejournal.com profile] parcae: SERIOUSLY
[livejournal.com profile] parcae: wow, i have absolutely no idea how to do that.
[livejournal.com profile] parcae: but i enjoy the fact that they said to assume his steps all have equal length.

[livejournal.com profile] fallingfortruth: Because it is Gerard.

[livejournal.com profile] parcae: is it now.
[livejournal.com profile] parcae: what is gerard doing in the dense jungles of equatorial africa, i wonder?
[livejournal.com profile] fallingfortruth: Writing the new album.
[livejournal.com profile] fallingfortruth: He needed inspiration!
[livejournal.com profile] fallingfortruth: Ray sent him out to find Frank.
[livejournal.com profile] fallingfortruth: Only it turns out Frank had fallen asleep in the attic.
[livejournal.com profile] fallingfortruth: And now Gerard is lost.

This is why [livejournal.com profile] fallingfortruth is my hero. Because he is AWESOME.

(Wow, I really hate physics. ALREADY. HOW AMAZING IS THAT.)

In other, less awful news, the interview with Jon and Spencer and accompanying article sort of made my day. How are they real, seriously.

Namechange! From "oh baby, be my vegetable. don't move. don't move." to "fried shrimp of sweat, tears, and love".

Also today I lost part of one of my molars! SO THAT WAS FUN.

(But there was also pizza and Mulan and some Sailor Moon (some random episodes and also the R movie, which, oh god I really was not remembering it as more rampantly homosexual than it actually is which is simultaneously reassuring and disturbing) and also showing Victoria the Cobra Starship MTV clips. And Victoria, obviously. So I guess the day's good, overall.)

I was totally going to make a post about how it would be AMAZING if the heat worked in my suite.

And then I fixed it.

I FIXED THE HEAT.

*boogies*

(Something that annoys me, though, totally unrelated: when you go to clean your glasses and you think it's going to help but it just ends up smearing crap all over the entire lens and it's worse than when before you started. Uh. I clean my glasses compulsively; this happens to me surprisingly often.)

Hey, meme time. (And you should all steal it so I can go write something on yours, okay?)

One little compliment can make you feel amazing. So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty. Put this in your journal. And once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind how great you are.
